Olivia Ambani is a singer- songwriter, from Kenya who was nominated for two awards for The All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA, 2019) in the continental category for Best Female Artiste in African Inspirational Music and Songwriter of The Year in Africa. She was also nominated for
Soulful Artist of The Year at The Café Ngoma Awards (2019). In late 2018 Olivia Ambani was also selected to be part of #emPawa100 artists,
selected by emPawa Africa a competition founded by Mr Eazi, that was searching for 100 talented artists from all over Africa.

In April 2020 Olivia Ambani released her debut album – The Awakening – featuring 14 songs all written and performed by her, including her inspirational single – Better Than Just Fine -– that she released in 2019 thanks to emPawa Africa. She also released her second single – I Do – in
July, that is a freestyle that features Noel Grass pianist and composer.
In 2018 Olivia Ambani was part of the “SWEET & SAWA” music project by The Nest Collective where she co-wrote and performed a number of songs on their debut album. And more recently in 2019 was also part of their latest music project – Blue Ticks and Kisses. And in 2016 she was among 4 select artists that performed at June Gachui’s Album launch, an award winning soul singer. Since then Olivia has performed at various shows and continues to captivate her audience by creating live through her freestyle sessions that are a constant part of her performance sets.
She is Inspired by artists such as John Legend, Asa, Adele, Chrisette Michele and Emeli Sande. Toni Braxton however is who she credits her vocal confidence from. “I fell in love with Toni Braxton’s voice and was encouraged that I too could do something special with my own voice.”
Olivia had this to say about her love for music:
“Music has always been a part of my life, I grew
up surrounded by it. I was known in school as the
girl who sang everywhere, and this grew even
when I went to university. That is when I started
to develop my song writing skills. Fast forward
to a couple of years later, I was in quite a low
place in my life, feeling frustrated and confused.
Deep down I knew what I wanted to do but I was
scared of failing. Then the profound question
that changed my life was asked, “What is the one
thing you would regret not having done in your
life? “ Without skipping a beat I answered not
having pursued my music. And so here I am
facing my fears and following my dreams,
creating music that I love and I hope you will love
too.”
